Nucleic Acid Therapeutics: From Bench to Bedside Symposium
17-18 February 2027, Bilbao (Spain)

This two-day scientific course is designed to bridge the gap between preclinical research on nucleic acid therapeutics and their clinical application. Through lectures delivered by renowned experts, the program will provide a comprehensive overview of the translational pathway, including key scientific, regulatory, and strategic considerations. Emphasis will be placed on real-world insights, featuring both successful and unsuccessful case studies to highlight critical decision points and common pitfalls in development.

The course is structured into four thematic training blocks. “The Drug” will cover the essential data required prior to IND submission (including CMC, toxicology, and efficacy), the role of CROs, dose selection strategies, PK/PD considerations, delivery challenges, and the integration of AI in drug development. “The Patients” will explore natural history studies, patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), and the selection of clinically meaningful and regulator-acceptable biomarkers and outcome measures, alongside the importance of incorporating the patient voice. “The Trials” will focus on clinical trial design, including regulatory pathways for rare diseases and oligonucleotide-based therapies. Finally, “The Stories” will present real-world examples from bench to bedside, including both successes and failures, as well as innovative approaches such as n-of-1 trials, offering a holistic and practical perspective on translational research.
